Tabular Speed Test©

Computerized Version >> We are looking for partners!

We have finished the initial development of a computerized version of the Tabular Speed Test. We are now looking for partners to provide initial data. We are interested in student pilots at any stage of training in a flight school and low-time professional pilots, such as pilots applying for jobs at regional air carriers. All participants must be at least 17 years of age.

The test takes 7.5 minutes. The test takers have up to 10 minutes to read the instructions and try the examples. The instructions currently are in English. The test itself does not use any words, only numbers.

The computerized Tabular Speed Test will run on PCs, laptops, and tablets. It will not run on phones. The test is delivered by a link in an email. When the test taker clicks on the link, the test opens. Nothing is downloaded to the test taker’s device. The test must be monitored, i.e. tests can be delivered to a group, but someone must monitor the group to ensure test security.

To finish test development, we need information on the performance characteristics of the test, such as the average score and how long it takes to read the instructions. No names will be connected to test scores.

We offer a gift card to flight students who participate in the study.

Additionally, if your flight school or company is interested in helping with validation (examining the relation between the test scores and measures of flight performance), we offer a 50% discount on the test for 6 months.

If you are interested in participating in either of these efforts, please contact Dr. Diane Damos at 847-855-9582 or send an email to damos@damosaviation.com.
